Silk Carrier Rods

are a by-product of silk spinning. They still contain the natural glue sericin and can therefore be ironed together for fine backgrounds, among other things. Silk carrier rods are almost no longer available today and have therefore become a rarity. Our header bags contain a relatively soft version that is particularly easy to roll up.

They can be rolled into blossoms, ironed into instant tissue paper, felted with wool or even felted with a needle. Some very patient people also use the short fibers for spinning. When pulled apart, they show a beautiful diamond structure and can be used to create a background for many textile techniques.
