General Information
about Painters Thread Colors
Painters Threads colors are made with a very special dyeing technique used for embroidery threads exclusively by House of Textile Arts. The dye lots vary frequently and surprisingly in Painters Threads colors.
The threads and fabrics are dyed individually, each dyeing gives a different picture, every single part is individual. The embroidered areas show a wonderfully subtle and perpetual mélange of Painters colors, not a repetitive pattern. This makes every project absolutely unique! All 40 colors harmonize uniquely with one another.
Due to the mentioned dyeing technique and different screen outputs, the illustration can also differ greatly from the product delivered. The color card is only for general orientation about the basic colors contained in the respective color.
You can find more information about hand-dyeing in the Painters Secrets .

You’re probably wondering, but who is Inge Meta… (color 130 – no link) I’d like to tell you the story behind it because it has so much to do with my life.
For once, I didn’t stick to a “well-known” artist, but to a “life artist”. A person who managed to live her life under somewhat difficult living conditions and at the same time gave many other people something positive to take with them. Inge Meta is my mother who overcame the premature and very sudden death of my father by painting watercolors.
Becoming a widow at 60 may not sound unusual, but it left her with 2 children still living at home and a son still studying. My sister and I could only accompany her from afar because we both had local jobs. To make matters worse for my mother, after many illnesses and hardships, it was finally time for my parents to treat themselves to something in life. Yes, life is sometimes difficult to understand!
So she started to paint and in the beginning it was only very dark colors like black and dark red. But soon her spirit returned and the pictures kept getting brighter and brighter and full of life. Each of her 5 children was allowed to choose a picture. I immediately decided on one that reminded me of a door that led to a bright world full of colors.
From the first moment I wanted to capture these colors for a new creation in our line. Since there were so many colors in the painting, even those that the textbook says it’s better not to mix, it took me 2 years to develop the final result to my satisfaction.
In 2015 my mother turned 85 and I gave her “her color” and a certificate. So that your courage and zest for life spread from this color to many who use it in a project. And it works, IngeMeta is one of our best selling colors… and that, although it is also the “most unreliable” color, because I never know how the 8 colors will mix with each other… just like in real life…
Unfortunately, Inge Meta suddenly went to the other world in September 2019. It is not only because of this color that many of us will always have vivid and colorful memories.
This is the original image that inspired me to paint “IngeMeta”.
So that everything is correct, we also issued Inge Meta a certificate that she proudly hung up for everyone to see.
Painters Pastels
In 2015, following popular customer requests, we began developing soft pastel tones that would complement our vibrant Painters Glory colours. Quite simply less color… well, it’s not quite that simple with our dyeing technique. And we wanted the pastels to be a bit different from the pastel-colored yarns of other hand dyers.
We are happy with our result and judging by the popularity of the pastels, so are our customers… Of course, we don’t begrudge any other manufacturer or hand dyer a lot of sales… but if you want to work with our Glorys and Pastels, you really don’t need anything else…
The pastels are named after regions, cities, plants and animals. Depending on what came to mind.
