Stitch with the German Embroidery Guild

This is more than needle up and down

This is the dance of the needle with the thread. Passion and fire.

An explosion of colors and dreams in pastel.

Deceleration and immersion in your own world.

Pure sensual pleasure!

The very special kind of ARTisanship

... count, intercept, zizagging, cut, apply, lay, cross over, warp
create, interlace, pad, pull through, pile up, wire, tighten, wrap, ...

... Chenille Needle, Curved Needle, Embroidery Needle, Tapestry Needle, Couronne, Stiletto,
Bodkin, Mellore, pliers, nails ...

... prickle, conceal, compensate, shade, assemble,
tension, dampen, sweep, wind up, ...

… that sounds exciting ?
- that's it! and much more

What makes up our guild

Our guild is small but nice. Like every club, it lives off what members can do. If we are asked, what woman / man gets from the German Embroidery Guild, then we have a funny answer ready:

With us you get nothing ...
you have to do something with us!
Stitch with joy!

and...

realize ideas, develop one's own creativity, participate in the preservation of one of the oldest crafts of humanity: designing with textile materials. Together accept the challenge of promoting the new profession Designing Crafts WoMan. Actively participate in our main goal: to inspire many people to stitch in all its diversity!

Of course, you also get something ... benefits from the expertise of many who meet and exchange ideas in the German Embroiderers Guild! Here you will learn everything you always wanted to know about needlework!

An association lives through its members

Stitch ups - Workshops - Further Education - Training

stitch together - information

regional exhibitions - international meetings

above all: bring a beautiful craft in the visibility!

In Germany and Switzerland we already have some lively meeting places
where our members can offer you a lot!

Since the founding of the German Embroidery Guild, we have been committed to ensuring that the craft of needlework in all its diversity is not forgotten. We present our little guild at fairs and exhibitions and always look forward to visitors and participants in the small workshops we offer there.

In the next few years, we would like to expand our workshop offer and expand our website to an information portal "All About Needelwork". A small stitch pattern collection with suggestions, which is available for members in pictorial form, is also currently under construction.

Our hardworking bees, who do all this work on a voluntary basis, are happy about every other member in our hive. The more we are, the more events we can visit and the sooner this beautiful, always modern craft will start to live properly.

we also like to be international
You will soon find information about our EU projects here

Erasmus + projects

Every year, the EU gives it the opportunity to participate in lifelong learning projects. In the past 13 years, we were able to participate in one of these projects three times. At the time, these programs were still called Grundtvig and Leonardo, today these are all combined under the Erasmus + scheme. We always work very closely with the International School of Textile Arts zusammen.

First and foremost, these projects are about getting to know other EU countries and their culture. As a rule, you travel to all participating partner countries (at least 4) and you are also the host for the participants from these countries. We met a lot of great people, visited historic sites and learned a lot about the conditions under which NGOs ("non-governmental organizations", which our guild is as well) work in other countries.

Of course, always a result must be achieved, there are different starting points. The image shown above, our most ambitious project so far, shows the "slightly different map of Germany" that emerged during our first Grundtvig project over the course of 2 years. It is a collaboration of members of the German Embroiderers Guild and ISTA students. These are 5 panels (each 1 × 2.50m), which show different distinctive points in Germany. The background was designed using free textile techniques. It was a lot of fun !!

In XNUMX, we made ourselves available as coordinator for the project "Upcycle your life by upcycling Textile Waste". Unfortunately, the decision was made against us, in XNUMX we will start a new attempt! Our partners from Lithuania, Poland, Turkey, Italy and Portugal hope, as we do, that we will be accepted with our project. We are already in the planning for our project "Allerleirau's fabulous world of each other". Under this theme, we make a wall hanging from waste fabric, which is embroidered with all sorts of antics and plant motifs from times gone by. The wall hanging will travel with us to the next exhibitions and will be co-designed by the visitors.

Do you feel like joining the project? You can do that without being a member of the guild. Write us an email, we'll get in touch with you as soon as we know if the project will take place.

On our own behalf - WE are looking for YOU

You love textile design and do not consider needlework to be an indispensable relic from great-grandmother's times. You can imagine becoming independent in this area. You know that in a small business everyone has to be able to do everything, including commercial knowledge, marketing, web design, computer skills and much more, and that doesn't scare you. You are not tied to a specific location and also a little bit keen to travel. Passion burns so strongly in you that the whole problem that self employment in this area means elicits an “I want and can do it”? Then click the button. Perhaps you will find right here what you have been looking for.
