The Deutsche Stickgilde e.V. was founded in 1998 by a small group of stitching enthusiasts. The main initiator was Bärbel Ingeborg Zimberwho was asked again and again by her student why there is an embroiderer's guild all over the world, but not with us. After we asked ourselves this question intensively, there was only one answer to this question: Because nobody has founded it yet!
This has changed for the better! In the meantime, we have grown to a somewhat larger group with a very high level of expertise and an even greater love of the textile craft. Many of our members have completed qualified training in needlework and are happy to pass on their knowledge to interested parties. Some of them have set up shops or an online trade after their training, so that the availability of the great materials on will be a little better.
The German Embroidery Guild is present at various larger fairs such as Creativa in Dortmund and Nadelwelt in Karlsruhe and Friedrichshafen, as well as at smaller markets. We show the variety and beauty of this very old, but not at all old-fashioned craft. There we also always inform about the profession of Designing Crafts WoMan which replaced the former apprenticeship professions of embroiderer, knitter and weaver in 2011 and was supplemented with felting, lace-making and trimming in addition to these 3 specialties.
Since 2006, we as Deutsche Stickgilde have also regularly participated in Erasmus projects in the field of adult education. Our cooperation partner for this is the International School for Textile Arts.
